I have seen more results from one year of Pilates than five years of traditional gym training. I’m a size 8 (down from a 12) for the first time in over ten years… I’ve thrown away my “mom jeans”!

Pilates is the best activity anyone can do to improve their surfing. Without a strong core, a surfer lacks power and control. Those are key elements that surfers need to maximize their potential in the water.
Using the Reformer helps surfers as well because it increases muscle strength and balance in an unstable environment. Besides increasing core strength, it also helps with flexibility which can help prevent surfing related injuries.

In June 2006 I was in a car accident which I thought had changed my life forever. After the accident I experienced neck pain, arm pain and a feeling of weakness in my hand. I was frustrated and quite overwhelmed that I would deal with this pain for the rest of my life.
Thankfully, a friend of mine told me about Ab Fab and you! Jayne, you have changed my life. Form the moment I first met with you and you truly listened to my pain and struggles since the accident, you gave me the first hope that I would not have to deal with this pain for my life.
I still can’t believe that after just five Pilates classes, the nagging pain at the base of my neck – GONE! My doctor had scheduled me for an appointment with a neurosurgeon, but the office was so backed up, I couldn’t get in for a couple of months. Thank God that you came into my life during the time. I cancelled that appointment!

I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2000 at the age of 57. I was placed on Fosamax, continued walking, running, doing other aerobic exercise, and taking calcium. I even tried Pilates mat work on my own. My bone density continued to deteriorate. In 2004, my Internist sent me to an Endocrinologist who suggested Forteo (an extreme measure entailing daily inoculations). My Internist and I both rejected the idea. It was a very frustrating experience knowing that I was doing everything right including eating organically and still my bones deteriorated.
Last February, I heard about Ab Fab Pilates. The minute I saw that Jayne had expertise in the area of osteoporosis, I sent her an e-mail explaining my situation. We set up my first appointment and I was introduced to the Reformer. Four months later, I had my yearly dexascan. When the report arrived, not only did it indicate major improvement in my bone density, but I no longer had osteoporosis in my hips – it is hard to explain how exciting it was to receive a report that I had osteopenia. My Internist told me that whatever I was doing differently, I needed to continue – the Pilates Reformer was the addition.
I recently celebrated my first year working with Jayne. My schedule allows me to go in only one afternoon a week, but it has made an incredible difference, not only in my bone density, but also in my posture. Thank you, Jayne for improving the quality of my life.

I joined Jayne at Ab Fab Pilates when I was five months pregnant. I wanted to keep my body limber and strong, and Jayne agreed to take me on as a pre-natal client with a modified work-out regimen. Jayne’s experience with pre-natal Pilates and the time she took researching new, fun and (most importantly) safe techniques allowed me to have a healthy exercise program that made all the difference as I neared the end of my pregnancy. My back stopped hurting and my energy level immediately increased. And, my back and arms were not just strong — they were muscular! (A very nice bonus, as I was due in the height of tank-top weather!) Most importantly, Jayne’s Pilates classes helped me get through my delivery. I had labor in my lower back, and it relieved some pain to lift my body up off the bed with my arms during the contraction. I continually thank my Pilates classes for giving me the physical strength and the breathing control to get through labor without medication. I’m back at Ab Fab now, five months after the birth of my son, gaining more strength than ever. Thanks, Jayne and Ab Fab!
